NCAA DIII Women's Basketball Championship & WBCA All-Star Game
New York University Violets were crowned champions of the 2024 NCAA DIII Women's Basketball Championship on March 14 & 16 at Capital University.
NYU, Smith College, Transylvania University and Wartburg College competed in the semifinals with NYU and Smith advancing to the championship.
Prior to the title game, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) hosted a girls basketball clinic and the DIII All-Star Game.
Book Drive with 2nd & 7 Foundation
Capital Athletics and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission hosted a kids book drive benefitting The 2nd & 7 Foundation. More than 1,500 new or gently-used books were brought to donation centers at Capital University in weeks leading up to the championship. Each participating team spent part of their practice day sorting the books and reading to second graders from West Broad Elementary.
WBCA Girls Basketball Clinic
The WBCA All-Stars and Capital University Women's Basketball team led a clinic for girls ages 6-13 at the Capital Center prior to the start of the DIII All-Star Game and national championship game.
Equipment Sorting with Leveling the Playing Field
The WBCA All-Stars were among the first group of volunteers to help Leveling the Playing Field unpack and sort new and gently-used sports equipment at their new Columbus location.

- Columbus first hosted the Championship in 1995 as hometown Capital University defeated UW-Oshkosh.
- Columbus was slated to host the Championship in 2020 before it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic
- Columbus will host the 2027 Women's Final Four
