JEFFREY JOHN JOINS GCSC AS SALES MANAGER

The Greater Columbus Sports Commission has named Jeffrey M. John to the position of Sales Manager, Executive Director Linda Shetina Logan announced today. John will be responsible for attracting state, local and regional sporting events to Greater Columbus, as well as being the Sports Commission’s primary liaison to hotels. His first day with the GCSC is Monday, March 2. “Jeffrey has a long and successful track record working in the sports marketing industry, especially in Ohio, and we are thrilled to have him join our team,” Logan said. “Jeffrey will allow our organization to continue to bring a wide variety of sporting event to Columbus.” John joins the Greater Columbus Sports Commission from the Butler County (Ohio) Visitors Bureau, where he served as Senior Sales Manager of Sports & Events since October 2008. He previously worked for the Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation as Sports Sales Manager and spent six years at the Canton/Stark County Convention & Visitors Bureau as Sports Promotion Manager, where he was heavily involved in booking and retaining the Ohio High School Athletic Association football and swimming & diving championships. John holds a Certified Sports Event Executive certificate from the National Association of Sports Commissions. The Greater Columbus Sports Commission was founded in June 2002 to attract professional, amateur, collegiate and youth sporting events to Columbus.
