DOLLAR THRIFTY AUTO GROUP BUYS 100 SPECIALTY LICENSE PLATES TO SUPPORT SPORTS COMMISSION, BLUE JACKETS, CREW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JULY 16, 2008 PLATES WITH BLUE JACKETS, CREW LOGOS WILL GO ON RENTAL FLEET COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dollar Thrifty Auto Group (DTG;nyse) will purchase 100 specialty license plates that feature Columbus Crew land Columbus Blue Jackets logos in a unique partnership program that will ultimately benefit the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, Executive Director Linda Logan announced today at The Morning Sports Report, the Sports Commission’s annual meeting. The specialty license plates cost $35 in addition to the standard license plate renewal fees, with $25 going to the Greater Columbus Sports Commission. Thrifty’s purchase of the 100 license plates will result in $2,500 for the Sports Commission. “Dollar Thrifty is proud to support the Greater Columbus Sports Commission through the purchase of the Crew and Blue Jackets specialty license plates,” said Todd Greenleaf, General Manager for the Columbus area for the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. “The program will allow us to continue our support of the Columbus community and show our “Team Spirit” for the Crew and Blue Jackets by having their logos displayed on 100 of our rental cars.” Crew and Blue Jackets specialty license plates have been available since 2004, with proceeds benefiting the Sports Commission’s effort to attract collegiate, amateur and youth sporting events to Columbus. “The Sports Commission publicly thanks Dollar Thrifty for its support of the specialty license plate program, the Crew and the Blue Jackets,” Logan said. “An added benefit will be the increased awareness of the Crew and Blue Jackets plates, which will encourage more fans to participate in the program as well.” The specialty plates are available at any Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles office or at www.oplates.com. Registration forms can also be obtained by calling 888-752-8373. The Crew and Blue Jackets plates are available to drivers of passenger vehicles, noncommercial trucks, motor homes and noncommercial trailers. The Crew and Blue Jackets are among five professional sports teams in Ohio that offer specialized license plates. Three Cleveland teams – Browns, Cavaliers and Indians – also participate in the program. The State of Ohio offers 65 specialty license plates that promote a variety of humanitarians and environmental causes, universities and sports fans. The Ohio Legislature passed a bill in 1998 that authorized the sales of specialty license plates featuring professional sports teams if a portion of the proceeds went to attracting sporting events to Ohio. Logan was among those who lobbied for the bill’s passage. The Blue Jackets and Crew plates became available in 2004 after more than 1,000 fans of each team signed petitions in support of the specialized plates.
