DUCK ‘N DODGE DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT RETURNS FEB. 23

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Duck ‘N Dodge dodgeball tournament, part of the national Duck ‘N Dodge Dodgeball Tour, will be held for the second time in Columbus on Feb. 23 at the Sports Barn at Easton.

The Duck ‘N Dodge National Dodgeball Tour was created in 2006 is owned by sports commissions in Atlanta, Cleveland, Columbus; Detroit, Richmond, Va.; and San Antonio. The six-city, 2007-08 tour opened in San Antonio on Sept. 29 and will finish in Atlanta on April 19.

The Columbus Duck ‘N Dodge dodgeball tournament will begin play at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Sports Barn at Easton, 3599 Chiller Lane. The winning team will receive a year’s supply of Chick-Fil-A. Teams will compete in Adult Male, Adult Co-Ed and Hospitality divisions. Cost to enter is $150. Registration closes Feb. 20.

The Duck ‘N Dodge National Dodgeball Tour is the first collaboration between the Greater Columbus Sports Commission and other commissions to create their own sporting event. "It will continue to be very important for the future of sports commissions to have the ability to create and own events, so this is a big step for us to be a part of the charter group for the Duck ‘N Dodge National Dodgeball Tour,” said Linda Logan, executive director of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission.

Columbus Sports Network will be taping the Duck ‘N Dodge tournament and will offer same-day coverage.  The first replay will be Saturday, February 23rd at 8pm, with additional replays on Sunday, February 24th at 2pm and 10pm.   Sports Columbus anchors Ray Crawford and Dionne Miller will call the action with help from sideline reporter Chris Miles.   Sports and entertainment will mix in this special coverage by central Ohio’s only 24/7 sports network.  CSN is central Ohio’s most comprehensive sports authority, showcasing central Ohio’s professional, collegiate, scholastic and amateur sports and related news.  CSN can be found on Time Warner—Ch. 78, Insight—Ch. 78 and 524, WOW!—Ch. 97, and over-the-air on Ch. 32. Contact Randy Rhinehart at 614-575-9000 OR rrhinehart@columbussports.net for more information.
