April 23, 2007
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SPORTS COMMISSIONS AGAIN HONORS COLUMBUS SPORTS PORTAL The Greater Columbus Sports Commission’s Web Site was named “Best Web Site” for large sports commissions by the National Association of Sports Commission for the second straight year, GCSC executive director Linda Logan announced today. The NASC is the sports industry’s leading networking organization. Founded in 1992, it represents more than 400 organizations from more than 300 cities across the country. Members include organizations that attract members to their communities, event owners and suppliers to the sports events industry. The award was given at the association’s Sports Events Symposium last week in Dallas. “We are very proud of our Web Site, and are thrilled that it continues to be recognized by our peers as the best in the United States for large sports commissions,” Logan said. “And we will continue to add even more valuable content and features as we strive to make it the No. 1 source for information about Central Ohio sports.” The GCSC’s Web Site at www.ColumbusSports.org features a comprehensive calendar of events for Central Ohio’s professional and collegiate teams, as well as other professional, collegiate, youth and amateur events. The Web Site also includes information about bringing sports events to the community, the Sports Commission’s recent bookings and current bids, as well as details about the city’s rich sports history as well as its stadiums, arenas and other venues. New features added in the past year include ticket sales; team, volunteer and newsletter registration; a press kit and event alerts. The Greater Columbus Sports Commission was founded in June 2002 to attract professional, amateur, collegiate and youth sporting events to Columbus.
