LEN KOMOROSKI, JAMEY ROOTES TO SPEAK AT SPORTS MARKETING SUMMIT

Len Komoroski, president of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Jamey Rootes, president of business operations the Houston Texans, will be the featured speakers at the Columbus Sports Marketing Summit on Thursday, May 18 at Nationwide Arena.

“The Playbook: An Open Discussion on Successful Sports Team Marketing Strategies” will be the topic of a panel discussion that will feature Komoroski, president since April 2003 of Ohio’s only NBA franchise; and Rootes, who was promoted in September 2005 to president of business operations for the NFL team. Rootes joined the expansion franchise in February 2000 after serving as president and general manager of the Columbus Crew for about five years. Komoroski will appear in Columbus between games 5 and 6 of the Cavaliers second-round playoff duel with the Detroit Pistons, while Rootes will return weeks after the Texans had the No. 1 pick in the recent NFL draft.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Larry Hoepfner, senior vice president of business operations for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Columbus Sports Marketing Summit will be held from 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 at Nationwide Arena. A networking reception and tours of the arena will be available from 4:15-5 p.m.

The Sports Marketing Summit, held three times each year, is sponsored by the Greater Columbus Sports Commission. The event provides sports marketing professionals from Columbus and around Ohio the opportunity to participate in panel discussions on current events and trends and to network with industry peers.
