WORLD’S LARGEST ONE-DAY WRESTLING TOURNEY IN COLUMBUS

2,500 TO COMPETE IN OHIO TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS ON SATURDAY, APRIL 29, 2006 The 14th Ohio Tournament Of Champions, the largest one-day wrestling tournament in the world, will be held Saturday, April 29 in Columbus. More than 2,500 wrestlers ages 5-19 will compete in 93 different age and weight classes on 24 full-size wrestling mats inside the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The competitors will represent 32 states. The all-day event will begin at 9 a.m. and finish at approximately 11 p.m. Admission is free. “The Ohio Tournament of Champions is thrilled to return to Columbus for our 14th year, and we look forward to again welcoming the best junior wrestlers in the United States to our city,” said Bart Friedenberg, the tournament’s chairman. Special guests at this year’s tournament include former NCAA champion Alan Fried; international bodybuilding champion Chris “The Blond Bomber” Cook; child actor Jonathan Lipnicki of Jerry Maguire and Stuart Little and Stuart Little 2; and actor Michael Johnson, star of Disney’s Mike’s Super Short Show.
